Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 24, 2026 (Updated: scraping disclosure, GDPR rights)

1. Information We Collect

When you use Spyglass, we collect information you provide directly: your name, email address, competitor URLs you submit for analysis, and payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we never store full credit card numbers).

We automatically collect certain technical information when you visit our site, including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on pages. This is collected via Vercel Analytics (privacy-focused, no cookies) and Google Analytics (uses cookies for aggregated traffic measurement).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: deliver the competitive intelligence reports you request, process payments, send report delivery notifications and account updates (transactional emails), improve our service based on aggregated usage patterns, and respond to your support requests.

We never sell your data to third parties. Your competitor lists and reports are yours — we do not share them with other customers or use them to build industry benchmarks without explicit opt-in consent.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Supabase (database) and Vercel (serverless functions). Both providers offer enterprise-grade security, including encryption at rest and in transit. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personally identifiable data is permanently removed within 30 days.

4. Cookies

Spyglass uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. Vercel Analytics uses a lightweight, privacy-focused analytics script that does not use cookies. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies for aggregated traffic measurement. We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services: Stripe (payment processing), Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting and serverless functions), Google (analytics), OpenAI (AI analysis for reports), and Resend (transactional emails). Each of these services has its own privacy policy and data handling practices.

Our competitive intelligence reports are generated by analyzing publicly accessible web pages of competitor websites. This analysis is performed by our automated systems in compliance with robots.txt directives and applicable laws. We do not share scraped data with third parties beyond what is necessary to generate reports for our users.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can export your reports and data from your dashboard. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@spyglassci.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify active users of material changes via email. Continued use of Spyglass after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

8. Contact

For privacy-related questions, contact us at privacy@spyglassci.com.

9. EU/UK User Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the GDPR: (a) Right to access — request a copy of your personal data; (b) Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data; (c) Right to erasure — request deletion of your data; (d) Right to restrict processing; (e) Right to data portability; (f) Right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.

To exercise these rights, contact privacy@spyglassci.com. We will respond within 30 days as required by law.

For competitor website operators: If our systems have incidentally stored personal data about your employees or representatives as part of our public web analysis, you may request its removal by contacting privacy@spyglassci.com with the specific URL. We will review and remove within 14 days.
